Climate-Related Challenges Across Scales

Jordan is on the frontlines of climate change. Rising temperatures, intensifying flash floods, and deepening water scarcity are not distant projections, they are reshaping daily life across the kingdom, placing growing pressure on communities already navigating complex vulnerabilities.

This information sheet brings together two complementary layers of insight. The first presents key national facts on flash floods, heatwaves, and water scarcity across Jordan, highlighting how these risks are evolving and intersecting. The second translates these national pressures into community-level realities, drawing on findings from the Climate Resilience Measurement for Communities (CRMC), a holistic framework applied by the Tabeaa Project across five vulnerable locations to assess how resilience is shaped across different dimensions.

Together, these insights highlight the importance of grounding climate action in local realities while strengthening the systems that enable sustained, long-term resilience.

يواجه الأردن اليوم ضغوطا مناخية متزايدة تتجلى في ارتفاع درجات الحرارة والفيضانات المفاجئة وتفاقم شحّ المياه. أصبحت هذه التحديات جزءا من الواقع اليومي الذي تعيشه المجتمعات في مختلف أنحاء المملكة كما تضاعف الضغوط على المجتمعات التي تعاني أصلًا من الظروف معقدة.

تقدّم نشرة المعلومات هذه قراءة مبسطة تجمع بين مستويين من الفهم. تبدأ بعرض صورة عامة عن أبرز المخاطر المناخية في الأردن وكيف تتطور وتتداخل، ثم تنتقل لتوضح كيف تنعكس هذه الضغوط على مستوى المجتمعات المحلية، بالاستناد إلى نتائج CRMC إطار قياس القدرة المجتمعية على مواجهة التغير المناخي الذي طبّق ضمن مشروع طبيعة في عدد من المجتمعات الأكثر تأثرا تجاه التغيرات المناخية.
